Police have released a CCTV image of a man they wish to speak with following the sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl on a train. The incident occurred when the girl, accompanied by her mother, was heading to the train’s toilets around 8 pm on August 16. The man, who had been trailing her, waited outside the toilets and then assaulted her again as she exited. The train was en route from Birmingham to Hereford.
British Transport Police have initiated an investigation into the “deeply distressing” occurrence, which left the victim and her family in shock. Authorities are seeking information on a man with brown hair, a beard, and seen wearing a grey t-shirt in the image. Detective Sergeant Matthew Grieve from British Transport Police emphasized the importance of speaking to the individual in the photo, believing he could provide crucial details for the investigation.
Expressing concern over the impact on the family, Det Sgt Grieve stated, “This is a deeply distressing incident which has shocked and impacted the family. We would like to speak to the man pictured, as we believe he may have valuable information that would help our investigation.”
