PGA Tour professional Jake Knapp’s girlfriend, Makena White, has tragically passed away at the age of 28. The couple had been in a relationship since August 2023 but went public in 2024 following Knapp’s first PGA Tour victory at the Mexico Open.
Knapp, who turned professional in 2016, has secured one career win and achieved four top-10 finishes this year. Despite his successes, he did not qualify for Team USA in the Ryder Cup, which commenced recently.
White, a native of Canada, worked in surgical sales, specializing in providing medical equipment to vascular and cardiac surgeons. She was known to be a sports enthusiast, particularly passionate about hockey and golf from a young age.
A statement shared on social media by White’s friend confirmed her untimely passing this week, expressing deep sorrow and describing White as a unique individual with a generous heart and a talent for bringing joy to those around her.
The couple was captured in images on White’s Instagram account, enjoying the scenery at North Berwick during the Genesis Scottish Open, where Knapp finished tied for 22nd place. White had expressed her love for Knapp in one of her final Instagram posts, commemorating their time together and expressing gratitude for sharing in his journey.
The golfing community mourns the loss of Makena White, a vibrant soul whose memory will be cherished by many.
