During Donald Trump’s exceptional second state visit, accompanied by his wife Melania, they were graciously received at Windsor Castle by King Charles and Queen Camilla, sparking various discussions over the last 24 hours. The royal gathering, which also included Prince William and Kate Middleton, partook in a grand state banquet with 160 guests at St George’s Hall within the castle.
While much attention has been on the interactions between the king and president, it was the fashion choices of their respective partners that stirred social media buzz. The Queen elegantly wore a cobalt blue Fiona Clare gown paired with a sapphire tiara, while the First Lady opted for a vibrant yellow Carolina Herrera strapless dress, accentuated by a pink belt.
Observing the two standing together, viewers tuned in to live broadcasts couldn’t help but notice the resemblance of their attire to the colors of the Ukrainian flag, leading some to speculate on a potential subtle gesture of solidarity with the nation facing conflict.
Commenting on the attire, one individual remarked, “I believe there may have been coordination in the choice of colors (Ukraine’s blue on Camilla and yellow on Melania). Perhaps a different style could have been more suitable.”
Another expressed gratitude, stating, “Thank you Queen Camilla and FLOTUS Melania Trump for keeping Ukraine in our thoughts.”
A different perspective was offered by a third observer, suggesting, “What a powerful display of support from Queen Camilla and FLOTUS for the people of Ukraine, especially the vulnerable children amidst the conflict… wearing blue and yellow dresses in unison.”
Likewise, a social media user highlighted, “Admiring the color choices made by Queen Consort Camilla and First Lady Melania. Clearly signaling their backing for Ukraine. And it is likely that Melania’s team coordinated with Camilla’s team regarding their attire.”
Even the Kyiv Post acknowledged the symbolic gesture, noting, “Official photo from King Charles’s meeting with Donald Trump. Queen Camilla and Melania Trump were dressed in yellow and blue, the national colors of Ukraine.”
During the King’s address, he underscored the strong alliance between the US and UK, emphasizing its role in supporting Ukraine.
“Our nations share the closest defense, security, and intelligence partnership ever established,” he proclaimed. “In past conflicts, we stood united against tyranny. Today, as threats loom once more, we and our allies stand firm in aiding Ukraine, deterring aggression, and securing peace.
“Furthermore, our Aukus submarine collaboration with Australia sets a new standard for innovative and vital cooperation.”
Reflecting on the enduring bond between the two nations, Trump later lauded the US-UK relationship as “invaluable and everlasting,” proclaiming, “We are united by history, faith, love, language, and shared cultural, traditional, ancestral, and destined ties.”
