I have been dedicated to using Lush hair care products for approximately four years now, sticking to the ones I have tried and tested. The products that have become my favorites are the Big shampoo or Swell, coupled with either Veganese or American Cream conditioner. It took me some time to discover this combination, but I am satisfied with it.
However, my interest was piqued when I discovered that Lush had introduced a Snow Fairy shampoo on TikTok. I was curious to know if it had the same scent as the sprays, if it contained glitter, and how it would affect my hair. Would it possibly turn it pink!?
Snow Fairy is one of the scents I adore from Lush, so whenever it returns each year, I am among the first to purchase new products.
Recently, they unveiled the Super Fairy collection, which combines Super Milk and Snow Fairy, a blend that I am completely obsessed with.
After trying the shampoo, I can attest that it indeed has a similar scent to the spray, albeit slightly less sweet, which is understandable.
What surprised me was the high pigmentation of the product! It genuinely resembles hair dye!
The bottle warns against leaving it on dry hair for an extended period as it may actually dye the hair… and as someone who has never dyed my hair, I must admit, this excited me a bit.
A TikTok user named Aimee, @love_lushie, shared that the Snow Fairy shampoo turned her bleached money pieces pink at the front of her hair. She mentioned that “results will vary” from person to person, and she actually “left it on for an hour” rather than just using it as a shampoo. Therefore, interpret that information as you see fit.
The website cautions: “This product is intentionally pigmented, so be cautious when using it,” which meant I had to thoroughly rinse the shower afterwards. Nonetheless, it was all in good fun.
Upon applying it to my hand, I was amazed. The glittery, bright pink shampoo seemed to instantly stain my hand, let alone my hair! I was convinced it would leave a mark behind.
Nervously, I looked at my trusty ‘Big’ shampoo in all its salty glory, debating if it was too late to switch to that instead. Ultimately, I decided to proceed and lathered it up in my hands, adding water to thoroughly wash my hair. Similar to Big, it appears to be a one-wash-and-done shampoo, which I prefer.
As I massaged the product into my hair, I secretly hoped for some color payoff, although deep down, I knew it was unlikely due to my unbleached hair.
After rinsing it out, my shower smelled delightful, and my hair felt exceptionally clean. Transitioning from a salt shampoo to a more “traditional” product was an unusual experience.
I conditioned my ends with Veganese as usual, completed the rest of my shower routine, and then wrapped my hair in a towel. Upon checking the ends of my hair, I discovered they were not miraculously dyed pink.
Predictably, I felt a bit disappointed, but I was impressed by how clean my hair felt and the fantastic scent emanating from it.
After leaving it in the towel for a while, applying my regular products, and using a hair dryer, I noticed that the shampoo seemed to have brightened my hair. Although I never dyed my hair, it enhanced the blonde tones.
Observing my hair in bed, I thought ‘it looks lighter than usual.’ The real test will be how long it takes for my hair to become greasy before the next wash. With Big, I can go nearly two weeks without washing my hair.
I have had experiences where other products made my hair look greasy immediately after washing it, so finding the right fit is crucial.
So far, I am impressed with the Snow Fairy shampoo. It has not made my hair greasy, it appears fresh and clean, and the scent is delightful.
Moreover, if you want to try it out with a 100ml bottle, it’s priced at just £9. So, why wait? If you happen to turn your hair pink with it, do share your experience!
