Conjoined Twins Carmen & Lupita Open Up on Marriage

-

Carmen and Lupita Andrade, 25-year-old conjoined twins, have opened up about the changes in their lives since Carmen married her long-term partner, Daniel McCormack.

Carmen and Daniel tied the knot in October 2024, after meeting on the dating app Hinge in 2020. The twins are physically connected at the torso, sharing reproductive organs and other internal structures, which complicates societal perceptions of their lives.

While Carmen is happily married, Lupita has stated she is asexual and does not share the same romantic or sexual desires. Carmen values her marriage greatly, highlighting Daniel’s unique respect for her as an individual, unlike previous treatment they have received.

Responding to critics, 28-year-old Daniel expressed frustration with the focus on their sex lives, emphasizing that it is a private matter. The twins, born in Mexico and raised in the US, have found a way to navigate their relationship dynamics, with Lupita supporting Carmen’s marriage, likening her bond with Daniel to that of siblings.

Carmen and Daniel eloped in a private ceremony on Lover’s Leap Bridge in New Milford, Connecticut, where Carmen proudly displayed her wedding ring in a YouTube update. On the other hand, Lupita confirmed she has no interest in marriage despite her sister’s marital status.

The twins face persistent assumptions and intrusive questions from strangers about pregnancy, intimacy, and whether they both share a partner. Due to their shared reproductive system, many mistakenly assume they lead identical romantic lives or that one twin’s marriage includes the other.

Carmen revealed challenges in receiving medical treatments due to their conjoined anatomy, particularly for conditions like endometriosis that affect both twins. Despite these obstacles and public curiosity, Carmen pursued marriage and legal recognition as a spouse, while Lupita did not.

They clarified that Carmen and Daniel’s relationship does not conform to typical expectations of sexual intimacy; rather, it is built on friendship, love, and mutual respect. While they share certain organs like the pelvis and reproductive system, they have separate hearts, lungs, and stomachs.

Managing health issues is a daily reality for the twins, with Carmen diagnosed with endometriosis, a condition impacting both. They have sought medical care despite some doctors being cautious due to their unique anatomy.

In addition to sharing their lives on social media, the twins collaborate with brands for income.
