“Flash Flooding Submerges Cars in Swansea, Major Alerts Issued”

-

Heavy flash flooding in Swansea submerged cars under water, prompting two major flood alerts. Recent heavy rains in various parts of Wales led to the alarming scene near Cwmbwrla roundabout, where multiple vehicles were seen immersed in several feet of water. South Wales Police reported the roundabout being impassable due to flooding, diverting traffic to Pentregethin Road. Authorities advised avoiding the area and using alternative routes as the closure was expected to persist until Monday. Additionally, flood alerts were issued for the River Rea, River Sow, and River Penk.

The inclement weather continued as Storm Amy threatened to bring a 600-mile wall of rain and 70mph winds across the UK. The forecast indicated significant rainfall in cities like Bristol, Cardiff, Belfast, Liverpool, Birmingham, Newcastle, Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Manchester. The Met Office warned of strong winds reaching 45-55 mph inland, with higher gusts likely along coasts and hills. Conditions were expected to gradually improve throughout the week, with winds easing on Tuesday, followed by wet and windy weather on Wednesday and a mix of showers and sunny spells on Thursday.
