“Sainsbury’s Own-Brand Washing-Up Liquid Outperforms Competitors”

-

Many individuals include washing-up liquids in their regular shopping routines. These products are formulated to remove food residues and other dirt while also providing antibacterial properties to ensure dishes and utensils stay clean. Recently, I noticed a rise in prices of branded washing-up liquids, prompting me to explore the effectiveness and affordability of own-brand options available at various supermarkets.

I typically favored Fairy in the past but decided to conduct a comparative test on own-brand washing-up liquids from supermarket chains like Lidl, Morrisons, Asda, Waitrose, Aldi, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, and Marks and Spencer.

During the evaluation, the Lidl washing-up liquid was noted for its pleasant scent, though it didn’t produce sufficient foam, which is a characteristic I appreciate due to its efficiency. Despite this, considering its cost-effectiveness, I wouldn’t mind using it again.

Rating: 5/10

Another product that performed well was the washing-up liquid from Morrisons. It exhibited a nice fragrance, generated ample bubbles, and effectively cleaned grime. However, it required soaking certain items, which was not typically necessary, affecting its overall rating.

Rating: 8/10

The washing-up liquid from Marks and Spencer proved to be efficient, creating abundant foam and bubbles for extended use. Despite its performance, the higher price point and packaging design were drawbacks that might deter repurchasing.

Rating: 5/10

Contrary to expectations, the supermarket own-brand washing-up liquids, like Sainsbury’s, demonstrated comparable performance to Fairy. Sainsbury’s, in particular, stood out as the top performer due to its effectiveness, pleasant scent, and overall value for money.

Opting for the original scent, Sainsbury’s washing-up liquid received the highest rating of 10/10, surpassing other supermarket brands in the test.

Tesco’s washing-up liquid also performed commendably, with results similar to Sainsbury’s in terms of efficiency and fragrance. Since both products offered identical pricing, consumers are encouraged to try both to determine their preference.

Rating: 10/10

Despite a gradual price increase over the years, Asda’s washing-up liquid remains affordable at 59p for 500ml. While it didn’t foam as much as some competitors, such as Sainsbury’s, Tesco, or Fairy, it proved to be a reliable option for everyday use.

Rating: 7/10

One of the costlier options, Waitrose’s washing-up liquid in a citrus scent, delivered satisfactory results. Although the scent was intense for some preferences, its performance was overshadowed by more budget-friendly alternatives in the test.

Rating: 6/10
