A manhunt has been initiated following an incident where a car rammed into an FBI gate, displaying what authorities are categorizing as an act of terrorism. Donald Henson, a resident of Penn Hills, is being sought by law enforcement for allegedly using his vehicle to crash through the barrier at the Pittsburgh Field office in Pennsylvania around 2:40 am on Wednesday. The suspect reportedly took an American flag from his car and hung it over the gate before fleeing the scene.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the episode, as confirmed by the FBI. Assistant Special Agent In Charge Christopher Giordano described the incident as a deliberate attack on the FBI, emphasizing that it was a targeted act against the building. Images captured by CBS displayed a white sedan forcefully lodged into the gate. Ongoing investigations have retained officers at the location.
Giordano stated to CBS that Henson is currently wanted in connection with the offense against the FBI and noted that there is no evidence suggesting he is armed. Stressing the severity of the crime, Giordano mentioned that federal charges will be pursued to the fullest extent possible.
Authorities discovered a message on one of the car windows, hinting at a potential motive. The FBI suspects the individual involved may have a military background and had recently visited the Pittsburgh office. As a precaution, a bomb squad was called to inspect the vehicle.
Eyewitness Nakeisha Brown recounted hearing tires screeching before the collision. Brown observed the suspect exiting the vehicle, retrieving an object from the passenger side, initially presumed to be a weapon but later revealed to be a flag. The individual then placed the flag on the fence, vocalized some statements, and swiftly departed from the scene.
