“Arrest Made in Brisbane River Murder Case”

-

A man has been arrested and charged with the murder of a mother whose body was discovered in the Brisbane River seven months ago. Crystal Beale, a resident of Brisbane, Australia, was found deceased in the Brisbane River in Yeronga on February 22 at 5:40 am by a member of the public.

On the night of the incident, Crystal had dinner with her ex-partner and son in the southern part of Brisbane. They were together until approximately 9:30 pm when Crystal left the car in Brisbane’s West End. Surveillance footage captured Crystal, 49, wearing beige sandals and a white dress at a restaurant, believed to be the last sighting of her alive.

After an extensive investigation spanning seven months, authorities from Dutton Park Criminal Investigations Branch and the Homicide Investigation Unit have formally accused a man of murdering Crystal, aged 49. The police operation, named Xray Saba, was established to reconstruct the events leading up to Crystal’s alleged murder.

According to a police statement, Crystal left a family dinner at a Sunnybank restaurant around 8:30 pm on February 21 with a 49-year-old man from West End, known to her. She was last seen by the man when she exited the car at 9:30 pm on Ryan Street, West End. The investigation involved analyzing over a thousand hours of CCTV footage and making numerous appeals for information to seek justice for Crystal.

Police allege that the man from West End killed Crystal and disposed of her body in the Brisbane River, where it was later discovered. Following intensive inquiries, detectives executed a search warrant at an address on Equestrian Drive in Maudsland at 5:11 am on September 22. A 49-year-old male was apprehended at the scene and charged with murder (a domestic violence offense) and misconduct with a corpse. He is scheduled to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court.

Detective Inspector Wayne Francis emphasized the profound impact such offenses have on families, friends, and the community. He stated, “The fate that befell Crystal is unforgivable. Our detectives have tirelessly pursued every lead over the past seven months to bring closure to her family. We were determined to uncover the truth and ensure justice for Crystal.”
