“Hamilton’s Singapore Grand Prix Ends in Penalty Drama”

-

Lewis Hamilton faced a challenging conclusion to the Singapore Grand Prix as he received a post-race penalty following a dramatic race. Despite encountering brake failure in the final laps, Hamilton managed to finish in seventh place, albeit in a slow and cautious manner.

Hamilton, equipped with soft tires for the final stint, initially displayed promising pace. With his teammate Charles Leclerc yielding to team orders, Hamilton aimed to overtake Kimi Antonelli. However, as he passed the rival car, visible brake dust and sparks indicated potential issues with his Ferrari’s brake disc.

In the closing laps, Hamilton struggled to maintain speed, allowing Leclerc to pass him. Although Hamilton crossed the finish line in seventh place, a post-race investigation resulted in a five-second time penalty for repeatedly leaving the track without justifiable reasons. Consequently, Hamilton was demoted to eighth place in the final standings, behind Fernando Alonso.

The stewards clarified that Hamilton’s actions did not align with the driving standards guidelines, leading to the imposed penalty. This decision pleased Alonso, who expressed frustration over the radio at the race outcome. Alonso questioned the safety of Hamilton driving with brake issues and criticized the handling of the situation.
