LG TV owners are in for a festive treat just in time for the holiday season. The renowned Korean tech giant, LG, has recently unveiled an exciting upgrade to its popular LG Channels platform, offering a range of new features and additional free content, including exclusive shows from Sky.
The latest update, which has started rolling out this month, enables users with select LG screens to access content from Sky Sports Stories, Sky Sports Vault, and Sky Sports Classics without the need for a subscription. Furthermore, LG has also introduced the Sky News channel to its free lineup, expanding the viewing options for its users.
But that’s not all. The upgrade also brings in more diverse content, such as LG1 Christmas for seasonal viewing, the FIFA+ Women Channel for soccer enthusiasts, and the DP World Tour for golf aficionados.
In line with other LG Channels offerings, these new additions operate on the FAST (Free Ad-Supported Television) model, meaning viewers will encounter advertisements during their programs.
Aside from the new channels, the update delivers broader enhancements, including personalized content suggestions and a revamped user interface aimed at streamlining the process of finding something to watch.
A novel “Quick Access” feature allows viewers to press the “OK” button on the LG Magic Remote while watching a show to promptly access channel information, the TV guide, favorites, and popular content.
Chris Jo, Head of the webOS Platform Business Centre at LG Media Entertainment Solution Company, highlighted the platform’s goal to provide users with easy access to premium and captivating content. He emphasized that the latest upgrade, from a fresh logo to enhanced personalization features, aims to make everyday viewing more intuitive and enjoyable for millions of users worldwide.
