Taylor Swift has shared some major career updates. The renowned singer has inked a significant deal with Disney Plus to produce a docuseries and unveil a new concert film centered around her highly successful international “Eras Tour.” The projects are set to premiere in just a few weeks.
The “The Fate of Ophelia” artist announced on Monday (13 October) that the series, titled “The End of an Era” and “The Eras Tour Final Show,” will be accessible for streaming on Disney Plus starting from 12 December.
Described as “an intimate glimpse into Taylor’s life as her tour captivated audiences worldwide,” the docuseries will not only spotlight Taylor but will also delve into her supporting acts and collaborators including Gracie Abrams, Sabrina Carpenter, Ed Sheeran, and Florence Welch.
The concert film, capturing her performance in Vancouver, will coincide with the series release. Unlike the previous Eras Tour film that predated her album “The Tortured Poets Department,” this new film will feature songs from that album, including two surprise performances in Vancouver – a blend of “A Place In This World” and “New Romantics,” and a medley of “Long Live” and “New Year’s Day.”
A subscription to Disney+ now starts at £5.99 and provides access to popular series like “Rivals,” “Only Murders in the Building,” and “The Bear,” in addition to a vast library of content from Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, and more.
Following the announcement on Good Morning America, Taylor shared the trailer on her Instagram, expressing, “It was the End of an Era, and we knew it. We wanted to remember every moment leading up to the culmination of the most important and intense chapter of our lives, so we allowed filmmakers to capture this tour and all the stories woven throughout it as it wound down. And to film the final show in its entirety.”
In the trailer, Taylor reflects on the Eras Tour, emphasizing the collective effort that led to its success. She highlights the milestones achieved during the tour and hints at closing this chapter. Clips of the tour and Taylor’s performances are interspersed with her statements.
The trailer also captures a candid moment of Taylor removing her makeup in the bathroom, expressing her restlessness and excitement after signing 2000 album covers that day.
