The final major update for Fortnite in 2025 is set to launch soon across various gaming platforms, including PlayStation, Xbox, PC, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices.
Following the recent release of update 39.10, Epic Games, the developer of Fortnite, is rolling out another significant update, this time in celebration of the 2025 Winterfest event. This festive occasion will run for a few weeks, offering players special gifts, new skins in the item shop, and limited-time in-game weapons.
However, the release of Fortnite update 39.11 will coincide with a period of server downtime. Here’s everything you need to know about this upcoming update.
Scheduled for December 18, Fortnite update 39.11 will go live on consoles, PC, and mobile platforms, immediately following the server downtime.
Server downtime is expected to commence at 9am GMT UK time, translating to 1am PDT / 4am EDT in the US, and 10am CET in Europe. Matchmaking will be disabled 30 minutes before the official downtime, preventing players from joining new games around 8.30am GMT.
Epic Games announced in a tweet, “Winterfest blows into the Golden Coast! Downtime for v39.11 begins at 4 AM ET with matchmaking ending shortly beforehand.”
As per the server status page, Fortnite is anticipated to be offline for approximately 90 minutes. The game is projected to resume at 10.30am GMT UK time, 2.30am PDT / 5.30am EDT / 11.30am CET.
Update 39.11 will introduce several pop culture crossovers, including BLEACH, Spongebob and Patrick Sidekicks, Snow Hatsune Miku skin, Santa Sabrina Carpenter, Baby Groot Sidekick, and Dr. Emmett Brown from Back to the Future, alongside returning Christmas skins such as Mariah Carey.
Expect changes to the Battle Royale map with snow and frost covering the island. The Cabin will also reappear, offering presents for players to open. Additionally, new festive items and weapons will be added, while classic items from previous Winterfest events will be reintroduced.
An exciting addition is the introduction of 5-player Battle Royale Squads. The CouRage ICON Skin is expected to be part of today’s update as confirmed by Fortnite insiders like Shiina.
Harry Potter skins will be available in the Item Shop on Thursday (or early Friday for UK players). Snow Miku and the SpongeBob collaboration will debut on Friday (Saturday in the UK), followed by Bleach skins on Saturday (Sunday in the UK).
The Santa Sabrina skin is set to hit the Item Shop on Monday, December 22 (Tuesday, December 23 in the UK), followed by Dr. Emmett Brown and the Delorean on December 23 (or 24th in the UK).
