An interactive map has unveiled the extensive impact of Pizza Hut closures on UK high streets, with one area set to lose seven out of nine restaurants. Administrators have disclosed the closure locations of 68 Pizza Hut restaurants as the chain faces financial challenges. This restructuring will result in the closure of 68 restaurants and 11 delivery sites, endangering the jobs of 1,210 employees. Only 64 Pizza Hut restaurants will remain operational in the UK after the closure program.
Among the most affected regions shown on the closure map is Greater Manchester, where seven out of nine Pizza Hut restaurants are slated for closure, leaving only two outlets in operation. A similar scenario is unfolding in Greater London, with nine closures planned in outer boroughs, maintaining only three central London locations and one at Bluewater shopping center. Fortunately, the East Midlands has been spared from closures, with restaurants in Lincoln, Nottingham, Mansfield, Thurmaston, and Leicester staying open.
DC London Pie, the operator of Pizza Hut’s UK dine-in restaurants under a franchise agreement, has appointed administrators from FTI, a corporate finance firm. Yum! Brands, the global owner of Pizza Hut, has acquired the UK restaurant business in a pre-pack administration deal, safeguarding 64 locations. In a previous acquisition, Directional Capital took over 139 Pizza Hut restaurants, preserving 3,000 jobs after the collapse of the former operator, Heart with Smart Limited.
Established by Directional Capital to manage Pizza Hut restaurants in the UK, DC London Pie oversees the operations of the chain. Pizza Hut plans to continue its presence across the UK through a combination of company-owned and franchise restaurants, with 351 delivery outlets operating nationwide. This strategic move will maintain 64 dine-in sites following the recent acquisition deal.
