A prominent pharmacy chain on the high street has rescued 60 branches belonging to a competitor from financial collapse. Allied Pharmacies has taken over the management of 60 Jhoots Pharmacies locations, most of which are currently closed. However, Allied has assured the public of its commitment to restoring essential pharmacy services at these sites.
Following this acquisition, Allied will expand its network to approximately 210 branches throughout England and Wales. The company’s move aims to address the disruption caused by the closures and prioritize the swift resumption of pharmaceutical services at the affected branches.
Recent reports revealed that Jhoots Pharmacies had been facing closures, raising concerns about communities losing access to vital health services. Allegations of unpaid bills and financial challenges surfaced, prompting Allied’s intervention to safeguard the operations of the affected pharmacies.
The ownership of the pharmacies is divided between brothers Manjit and Sarbjit Jhooty, with Manjit overseeing more than 20 branches and Sarbjit owning the remaining 129. Both brothers have responded to the situation, with Manjit asserting the financial stability of his pharmacies and Sarbjit acknowledging workforce challenges and addressing them.
In light of these developments, inquiries have been made to Jhoots for their input on the matter. The industry awaits further updates on the future of these pharmacies and the efforts to maintain essential healthcare services within local communities.
