Metrolinx has announced that there will be no GO trains operating between Stratford and Mount Pleasant station on the Kitchener line this weekend due to significant track upgrades. Passengers travelling to or from Toronto will need to utilize bus services from the Kitchener or Guelph GO stations to reach alternative stations:
– Kitchener passengers can take a bus to Bramalea GO for train connections or continue on the bus to Hwy 407 bus terminal for TTC Line 1 access to Union Station.
– Guelph and Stratford passengers will be directed to take a bus to Mount Pleasant GO station.
During Saturday and Sunday, GO train services will be limited to running between Mount Pleasant and Mount Dennis GO stations. Passengers at Mount Dennis GO can transfer to the TTC for travel to Union Station.
Late-night service adjustments are anticipated for Friday night, with minor schedule changes on Monday and Tuesday:
– Eastbound trains departing from Stratford, Kitchener, and Guelph will leave two minutes earlier.
– Westbound trains from Union Station will arrive at Guelph, Kitchener, and Stratford two minutes later than usual.
Regular service is anticipated to resume on Wednesday. Metrolinx has clarified that the closure is essential for conducting foundational work to establish a second track and enhance the overall corridor along the Kitchener line.
