Amazon is set to roll out a significant upgrade for select Fire TV Stick models, aiming to enhance user experience. The update includes a fresh design featuring modern typography, revamped color gradients, and improved homescreen layouts. Users can expect faster navigation, with performance enhancements of up to 30 percent when browsing through menus.
Aside from visual and speed improvements, users will now be able to pin up to 20 apps on the home screen, a significant increase from the previous limit of six. Streamlined access to Games, Art & Photos, and the Ambient Experience is now available through the Menu button on the remote.
A new shortcut panel accessible by long-pressing the Home button has been added, offering quick access to essential Fire TV controls like audio and display settings. Additionally, the upgraded assistant Alexa+ is set to launch in the UK later this year, aiming to enhance content discovery.
In conjunction with the Fire TV Stick update, Amazon is also revamping the Fire TV mobile app. Users can now browse content, manage watchlists, and play titles directly on their TVs using the redesigned app, which mirrors the updated Fire TV interface. The app effectively turns smartphones into a secondary screen, facilitating content discovery and watchlist additions on the go.
The update will initially roll out in the U.S., with global regions set to follow later in the year. Compatible devices for the new Fire TV update in the U.S. include the Fire TV Stick 4K Plus, Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2nd Gen), and Fire TV Omni Mini-LED Series. Amazon plans to expand availability to more devices and countries, including the latest Fire TV 4K streaming media players in the upcoming spring.
