Body of Missing Manchester Man, Richard Thornton, Found

Police have discovered a body while searching for a man who was last seen entering a taxi over the weekend. Richard Thornton, a resident of Greater Manchester, disappeared in the early hours of Saturday from the Werneth Low area. Concerned family and friends took to social media to seek assistance in locating him.

Tragically, Greater Manchester Police have confirmed the recovery of a body believed to be that of Mr. Thornton. He was last sighted more than 48 hours ago, captured on doorbell footage entering a taxi. Leaving an address around 5 am on Saturday, his phone’s last known location was in the vicinity of Stockport’s Stepping Hill Hospital.

Reports from Manchester Evening News indicate that the body was found off Mottram Old Road, Hyde. The police stated, “We can confirm that the body of the missing man, Richard Thornton, has been found deceased this morning. Enquiries had been ongoing since his disappearance was reported on Saturday. Although formal identification is pending, Richard’s family has been notified and is receiving support. The circumstances of his death are not deemed suspicious, and the case will be referred to the coroner.”
