“First Snowfall Predicted for UK This Weekend”

-

Britain is set to experience its first snowfall of the autumn season this weekend, with meteorologists predicting the arrival of snow showers around midnight on Sunday, September 21. Temperatures are expected to drop to 0C, with central Scotland, particularly areas from Inverness to Struan, facing the highest likelihood of snow. Weather maps indicate that the snowfall will be concentrated in central Scotland, as highlighted by distinctive purple patches on WX Charts.

Looking ahead to the week, Jo Farrow from Netweather TV stated that after a windy Monday morning, Tuesday will be less blustery for most regions. Showers will persist in the northern UK, with northeastern Scotland experiencing continued blustery conditions. The arrival of another Atlantic low on Tuesday night will bring more wind and rain, affecting the region until Wednesday morning.

The development of a zonal jetstream will bring strong winds and gales to Northern Ireland, the Irish Sea, and western Scotland mid-week. James Madden from Exacta Weather mentioned that while some parts of Scotland may experience cooler weather, the rest of the country can expect above-average temperatures for this time of year, reaching the mid to high 20s in the warmest regions by the latter part of the week.

However, there is a possibility of low-pressure systems affecting the UK towards the end of the week, according to future model runs. Stay updated for the latest weather developments in the coming days.
