Sports Interactive, the creators of Football Manager 26, have faced criticism as they delay a scheduled update, leaving around 200 issues unresolved. Players have expressed frustration, with some deeming parts of the game “unplayable.” The studio initially planned to release the update this week but had to retract due to unforeseen performance concerns.
A representative from the development team announced that the update, version 26.0.6, containing over 200 fixes and adjustments, will be launched on the Steam Public Beta Track on November 19. The update will later be available on Steam, Epic, and Microsoft Stores. Specific changes include tweaks to player wage demands, the addition of an FPS limit option, and modifications to European coefficient points allocation.
Additionally, Sports Interactive assured players of ongoing work behind the scenes to enhance the Match Engine. Despite these efforts, a setback occurred on November 19, causing the postponement of the update release on the public beta track due to unresolved issues. This delay prompted disappointment among fans who criticized the buggy state of FM26 and the lack of timely updates.
Streamer Nerdphonic criticized the decision-making process related to the game, describing it as “insane” and highlighting a lack of improvement in communication with players. On Reddit, users shared their discontent with the release, labeling it as a disappointment. Some players recounted their frustrating experiences, such as encountering bugs during gameplay with specific teams.
Sports Interactive disclosed that the console version update is scheduled for November 21, with updates for Touch and Mobile versions following shortly after. The team emphasized ongoing efforts to address issues and improve the gaming experience for all users.
