“Lib Dem Leader Calls for Elon Musk’s Parliament Appearance”

-

Elon Musk has been accused of criminal behavior for neglecting the safety of children online, according to Keir Starmer. Sir Ed Davey, leader of the Liberal Democrats, is calling for the appearance of the world’s wealthiest individual before Members of Parliament. This demand comes after Musk addressed a rally organized by Tommy Robinson, where he warned of impending violence in the UK.

In an interview with Sky News’ Sir Trevor Phillips, Starmer expressed his belief that Musk should be held accountable for his actions, citing instances of inciting violence and promoting harmful content on his social media platform. The Liberal Democrat leader criticized Musk for his involvement in influencing democracy and highlighted concerns about the impact of his platform on children.

The ongoing dispute between Sir Ed and Musk escalated on social media following the rally incident, with accusations of inciting violence exchanged. Sir Ed has called for an investigation by Ofcom into Musk’s platform and personal conduct in relation to the Online Safety Act. The Liberal Democrats intend to introduce a motion in Parliament to summon Musk for scrutiny regarding his behavior at the rally.

This parliamentary procedure, which has not been utilized for many years, would compel Musk to appear before the House of Commons to face public censure. The power, rarely exercised, was last applied to a non-MP in 1957.
