“Mysterious Death in Mairiporã Revealed as Suicide”

-

In January 2012, the body of Geralda Lúcia Ferraz Guabiraba, aged 54, was discovered near a well-known landmark in Mairiporã, sparking immediate concern.

Geralda, a homemaker and the spouse of a Grupo Estado commercial director, was found on January 14 in a position resembling a cross next to the Pedra da Macumba, a site associated with religious practices and eerie tales.

Her body displayed disturbing injuries – her eyes were absent, her face stripped of tissue, and a deep wound on her neck, leading many to speculate about a possible ritualistic act.

The location itself added to the mystery. Situated near kilometre 8 of Estrada da Santa Inês, the Trovão farm entrance often featured remnants of Afro-Brazilian religious rituals, such as candles, fruits, animal parts, and other offerings.

Local residents described the area as unsettling, with one neighbor expressing a sense of unease when passing by.

Reports indicated Geralda’s car was seen near the site on the night of her death. A witness mentioned observing a muscular man driving her vehicle followed by another car, hinting at a possible abduction.

Investigators seized Geralda’s computer after discovering online searches for a potent rat poison, raising suspicions of foul play. However, initial forensic analysis pointed towards a different scenario.

Contrary to the initial beliefs of a ritualistic killing, subsequent investigations suggested a different narrative. Medical examinations indicated that Geralda’s death was likely a result of suicide rather than a violent act.

Following thorough inquiries by the authorities, it was concluded that the tragic incident was indeed a case of suicide. Despite the initial speculations, no evidence pointed to homicide or external involvement in Geralda’s demise.

The resolution of the case shed light on the misconceptions surrounding the mysterious circumstances of Geralda’s death, debunking the initial theories of ritualistic sacrifice or foul play.
