“NHS Infected Blood Scandal Campaigner Surprised with Cruise Prize”

-

Michelle Tolley, a dedicated campaigner for victims of the NHS infected blood scandal, was pleasantly surprised with a cruise holiday prize at the Pride of Britain Awards. Alongside other campaigners, Michelle received the unexpected award after years of advocating for those affected by the scandal.

Michelle’s journey began after contracting hepatitis C from a blood transfusion in 1987. Despite facing years of fatigue and misdiagnoses, she channeled her anger into supporting fellow victims and participating in the official government inquiry. The news of the cruise holiday came as a much-needed respite for Michelle and her husband, who hadn’t traveled abroad since their wedding in 1984.

Their voyage on the Ventura cruise ship was a memorable experience for the couple, with Michelle describing the sight of the ship as “mindblowing.” They indulged in the ship’s amenities, relishing the food, shopping, pools, and entertainment. Exploring Madeira and the Canary Islands added to their adventure, with excursions ranging from scenic tours to tuk-tuk rides in Las Palmas.

In Lisbon, the couple embarked on a coach and river cruise, immersing themselves in the city’s history and landmarks. Michelle and Dean were so captivated by their cruise holiday that they look forward to repeating the experience. Michelle praises the exceptional treatment they received on board and encourages others to embark on a cruise holiday for a fantastic and hospitable experience.
