Keir Starmer has strongly criticized Tommy Robinson and Elon Musk, stating that the violent incidents over the weekend have deeply unsettled people across the nation.
The Prime Minister emphasized to the Cabinet that the current battle is crucial, pitting patriotic national revival against harmful division. Downing Street expressed concerns that a rally organized by Robinson, a convicted criminal, and involving calls for violence from billionaire Musk, could intimidate individuals.
During a Unite the Kingdom rally in London, attended by an estimated 150,000 people, twenty-six officers, including four severely injured, as clashes unfolded. Starmer condemned the violence, particularly highlighting the impact on ethnic minority communities.
In response, No10 stressed the importance of national renewal over decline and division, calling for a united effort to overcome these challenges. The Prime Minister’s spokesperson reiterated the government’s commitment to free speech while acknowledging the concerns raised by recent events.
Musk, the wealthiest individual globally, issued warnings of impending violence and urged right-wing supporters to “fight back” to avoid dire consequences.
Addressing queries regarding the PM’s language of a “fight,” the spokesperson explained that divisive forces aiming to intimidate individuals based on their background pose a genuine threat, and the government is mindful of such concerns.
