“Turbulence Causes Injuries on Ryanair Flight to Spain”

-

Passengers were shocked by severe turbulence during a flight to Spain, resulting in multiple injuries. The Ryanair aircraft departed Vitoria for Palma in Mallorca when turbulence struck, causing distress among the 180 passengers on board. Two flight attendants sustained serious injuries, one thrown into the air and hitting the ceiling, while the other was struck by a catering trolley in the aisle.

Additional crew members also suffered injuries as they were standing during the turbulence. Emergency services promptly responded to Son Sant Joan airport upon the aircraft’s landing, with an ambulance ready to assist the injured personnel. Following a brief delay, passengers were able to disembark safely.

A Ryanair spokesperson confirmed the incident on flight FR4615, stating that the captain had requested medical aid for the injured cabin crew, and the plane landed without further issues.

The turbulence incident occurred amidst adverse weather conditions, causing prior flight delays due to heavy rainfall in Mallorca. The stormy weather complicated the flight from Alava to Ciutat as it approached its destination. The turbulence, triggered while the flight attendants were securing the cabin, resulted in one attendant hitting the ceiling and another being struck by a cart.

The severity of the injuries sustained during the incident remains uncertain at this time. This incident follows a previous one earlier in the year where a Ryanair flight encountered a thunderstorm, leading to injuries among passengers and crew during an emergency landing in Bavaria.

In that instance, the airline diverted flight FR8 from Berlin to Milan to Memmingen due to air turbulence, with medical assistance requested for those affected. Passengers were accommodated with alternative transport to reach Milan swiftly, and a replacement flight was arranged as a resolution. Apologies were extended to affected passengers for the inconvenience caused by the diversion.
