“UK TV Signal Disruptions Caused by Weather Conditions”

-

Another beautiful weekend is in store for sun lovers, but the current weather conditions in the UK are causing TV signal disruptions. Due to a high-pressure system lingering over the country, some households may experience poor signal quality and distorted images on their screens for the next two days.

The presence of this high-pressure band, while bringing pleasant weather to many, can also lead to transmission issues. The BBC explained that high-pressure systems can result in weaker signals from local transmitters being lifted higher into the atmosphere, as well as interference from signals of distant transmitters.

The disruptions to Freeview TV services began late last week and are expected to persist until Monday, May 19. Freeview issued a statement warning viewers across the UK about potential disruptions to TV reception during this period, attributing the issue to the high-pressure conditions affecting the signals used by Freeview.

While the interruptions may be frustrating for those looking to enjoy Sunday entertainment, Freeview users are advised against attempting to retune their TVs as it will not resolve the problem and may cause further issues. Freeview assured that the reception will return to normal once the high-pressure system passes.

For viewers experiencing signal problems, alternative options are available. Those with smart TVs equipped with Freeview Play can switch to internet services such as BBC iPlayer and ITVX instead of relying on the aerial. Additionally, Freely, a service by the same team behind Freeview and Freesat, delivers content through broadband, unaffected by weather conditions, offering over 40 channels with live and on-demand content.

Freely allows users to pause live TV, access a TV guide for current and upcoming programs, and receive recommendations for new shows to watch. Although initially limited in features and compatible TVs at its launch, Freely has been continuously enhancing its platform. A recent update introduced new features like a backwards TV guide and improved ways to save content for later viewing.
