“Poland Warns: Russian Jets in Airspace Will Be Shot Down”

-

Poland’s Prime Minister, Donald Tusk, has issued a firm warning that any Russian fighter jets violating Polish airspace will be shot down without hesitation. Tusk emphasized that there will be no room for negotiation when it comes to protecting Poland’s territory.

Recent incidents have seen Russian drones and warplanes trespassing into the airspace of several countries, including Poland, Romania, and Estonia. Last Friday, three Russian MiG-31 jets breached Estonia’s airspace for nearly 12 minutes before being intercepted by NATO jets.

The unauthorized entry of the MIG-31 jets into Estonian airspace raised concerns, as the Russian aircraft flew over the Vaindloo Island area with their transponders off and no communication with local air traffic controllers. Estonian officials strongly criticized the violation, labeling it as “unprecedentedly brutal.”

NATO confirmed the interception of the Russian jets, condemning the reckless behavior and highlighting NATO’s readiness to respond to such provocations swiftly.

Prime Minister Tusk stressed the importance of solidarity among NATO allies in the face of escalating tensions. Estonia’s Prime Minister, Kristen Michal, hinted at invoking NATO’s Article 4 for discussions on territorial security threats following the airspace breach.

Estonia’s Foreign Minister, Margus Tsahkna, expressed outrage over the repeated violations by Russia and called for a robust response through political and economic pressure to deter further border testing and aggression.

The escalating situation underscores the need for a unified response from NATO member states to safeguard territorial integrity and deter unauthorized airspace violations.
