Fatal Shooting in Wolverhampton Sparks Murder Inquiry

-

Police in Wolverhampton have initiated a murder inquiry following a fatal shooting of a man inside a vehicle, while another individual is in critical condition at the hospital.

The incident took place on Leicester Street during the early hours of September 19, where the two males were discovered with severe injuries inside a car. Sadly, one man in his 20s was declared dead at the scene, while the other, aged in his 30s, was swiftly transported to the hospital with injuries deemed life-threatening. Authorities from West Midlands Police have cordoned off roads in the vicinity as they conduct their murder investigation.

A spokesperson confirmed the situation, stating, “We have commenced a murder investigation after a man was shot and killed in Wolverhampton. Responding to reports of gunfire, we arrived at Leicester Street shortly after 3:10 am this morning.”

The ongoing investigation urges the public to steer clear of the area due to multiple secured crime scenes and road closures. Law enforcement officers will maintain a presence in the area throughout the day as they pursue their inquiries.

For any witnesses or individuals with potentially valuable footage, the police have requested cooperation by contacting them at 101, quoting log 358 dated September 19.

West Midlands Ambulance Service received the emergency call at 3:11 am and promptly dispatched two ambulances, two paramedic officers, the Hazardous Area Response Team, a MERIT trauma doctor with a critical care paramedic, and the Midlands Air Ambulance Critical Care Car from Cosford to the scene.

Upon arrival, emergency crews found a man in critical condition receiving initial assistance from the police. Despite extensive efforts to save him, the individual was pronounced deceased at the scene. Another man in a critical state received advanced trauma care on-site before being urgently transported to the hospital under emergency conditions.
