Citroen and Vauxhall have announced a recall affecting the C3, C3 Aircross, and Frontera models due to a potential issue with the brake pedals becoming detached. Citroen has taken proactive measures by initiating a ‘stop-drive’ action for customers who have received the latest generation of C3 and C3 Aircross models.
Customers awaiting the delivery of new Vauxhall Fronteras are informed that the vehicles are undergoing inspections before shipments commence. The recall was prompted by the discovery that right-hand-drive versions of Citroen C3 and C3 Aircross may have brake pedal boxes not meeting the correct UK vehicle specifications, potentially leading to brake loss.
This development marks the third ‘stop-drive’ recall by the French automaker this year, following previous issues with faulty airbag units in specific C3, C4, DS3, DS4, and DS5 models.
A Citroen spokesperson emphasized Stellantis’ top priority of customer safety, stating that during routine quality checks, it was found that certain right-hand-drive Citroen C3 and C3 Aircross models could have pedal box assemblies not meeting the correct specification, posing a risk of brake capability loss. In the event of such an issue, the automatic emergency braking (AEB) and electronic parking brake will remain fully operational. A stop-drive action is being implemented to safeguard affected Citroen C3 and C3 Aircross customers, who will receive replacement vehicles during the inspection and necessary rectification process.
Stellantis reiterates its commitment to prompt, transparent, and responsible action in addressing this matter. Customers with concerns are advised to reach out to customer services or their local retailer. Vauxhall remains unaffected as deliveries have not commenced, with vehicles undergoing checks and potential rectifications.
