Dealing with unwanted phone calls is a common challenge for smartphone users. Recent data indicates that the average UK consumer faces around eight of these calls every month, posing a risk of personal information and credit card details being compromised for fraudulent purposes.
To enhance customer safety, Vodafone has introduced a new service named Scam Call Protection. This innovative feature employs AI technology to detect and highlight suspicious calls, including those related to fraud, spam, scams, and nuisances.
Operating in the background, the system scrutinizes incoming calls on mobile devices. When a potentially fraudulent call is identified, users receive a straightforward on-screen notification flagging it as a possible scam.
Rob Winterschladen, Consumer Director at Vodafone, highlighted the challenge of identifying scam calls, emphasizing the need for vigilance. He stated that Scam Call Protection on Vodafone Secure Net Mobile offers an added layer of security by continuously monitoring calls and alerting users to known or suspected scam calls, demonstrating Vodafone’s dedication to providing comprehensive digital security.
This feature is integrated into Vodafone’s Secure Net Mobile platform, which also includes advanced parental controls, round-the-clock ID monitoring to prevent identity theft, and real-time virus and malware protection.
Interested individuals can trial the service for free for three months, with a subsequent monthly fee of £2.
