“Rising Prices of Christmas Chocolates: Budget-Friendly Options Revealed”

-

As the holiday season approaches, many of us like to have a tin of chocolates on hand to share with loved ones or enjoy ourselves. However, if you’re thinking of purchasing one, it might be wise to budget accordingly.

Traditionally, a tin of festive chocolates would not have cost more than five pounds. Yet, during my recent visit to the supermarket, I was taken aback by the prices of Cadbury Roses and Heroes tins. Hoping to treat myself to a tin of chocolates at my local Sainsbury’s for a cozy movie night, I was shocked to find both 700g tins priced at £16.50.

Although a Nectar card can reduce the cost to £10, it still feels quite expensive. Thankfully, there are more affordable options available for Sainsbury’s shoppers when it comes to chocolate Christmas tins.

According to the website, a Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate Mixed Chunks Tin (60g) is priced at £9.59 or £6.50 with a Nectar card. Additionally, a 750g tin of Quality Street costs £13 or £8.50 with a Nectar card.

For those looking for more budget-friendly options, tubs of Celebrations, Heroes, and Quality Street are available for just £6 each at Sainsbury’s.

For even better deals, shoppers may want to visit Tesco. The same 500-550g tubs of Celebrations and Quality Street are currently priced at just £3.95 with a Clubcard, and £4.50 without the card.

Furthermore, the Heroes tin, priced at £16.50/£10 in Sainsbury’s, is only £7.50 with a Clubcard at Tesco, but £15 without the card.

Recent findings have highlighted the supermarkets offering the most affordable Christmas chocolate tubs. Asda currently sells standard tubs of Heroes, Roses, and Celebrations for under £5, while Morrisons offers them for £7 (or £5.50 with a Morrisons More Card).

Additionally, Tesco provides great deals with Celebrations and Quality Street tubs priced at just £3.95 with a Clubcard, and Roses and Heroes at £7 (or £5.25 with a Clubcard). Aldi and Lidl also offer tubs for under £5.

Notably, Marks and Spencer and Waitrose do not stock traditional tubs on their websites. However, they do offer smaller pouch-sized packets and alternative festive chocolates ranging in price from around £4 to £10.
