Music icon Todd Snider was captured on body cam footage pleading with officers during his arrest to be allowed back into a hospital shortly before his passing. The video shows him being handcuffed and placed in the back of a police vehicle. In the recording, he can be heard stating, “I have a band, I’m famous – the band deserted me. I need my lawyer here. I’m not a bad person, I promise.”
The untimely death of the 59-year-old star was announced recently. Snider had to cancel performances on his High, Lonesome and Then Some tour due to sustaining severe injuries from a violent altercation outside his hotel.
Following the alleged attack, Snider reportedly visited the hospital but refused to leave upon discharge. When questioned by an officer about returning after being advised not to, he explained that he couldn’t recall that and mentioned walking back due to intense pain.
Expressing his desperation, Snider pleaded with one of the officers, asking to be allowed to return to the hospital, stating, “Can I please go back to the hospital? Sir, I am sick. Please let me go back, give me one more chance.”
Before his passing, a statement from his loved ones disclosed that Snider was battling an undiagnosed case of ‘walking pneumonia’ which had worsened. A subsequent post confirmed his passing, leading to an outpouring of grief from his devoted fans.
Known for his diverse musical style encompassing alt-country, folk, rock, blues, and funk, Snider released 14 studio albums featuring popular tracks like Alright Guy and Talking Reality Television Blues, covered by Tom Jones. He was honored with induction into the Oregon Music Hall of Fame in 2021.
