Chantelle Swaby, formerly of Leicester City in the Women’s Super League, and Kaela Hansen from AFC Toronto have joined the team. Head coach Anja Heiner-Moller highlighted the valuable attributes both players bring to the team in their pursuit of a playoff spot.
Swaby, 28, brings a wealth of experience from playing in various leagues, including the National Women’s Soccer League, the Scottish Women’s Premier League, and France’s top division. She is known for her composure and leadership on the field, providing a calming presence during intense game situations.
Hansen, 26, expressed excitement about returning home to Vancouver and playing in front of a local crowd. Her move to the Rise comes after the team bid farewell to Mariah Lee, who retired to pursue a legal career in New York. Additionally, goalkeeper Kirstin Tynan was loaned to the Halifax Tides for the remainder of the season.
With the defending champions Vancouver Rise currently trailing Halifax by five points in the standings, the team is focused on securing a playoff spot. Forward Jessica De Fillippo emphasized the team’s determination to showcase their competitiveness and make a strong push for the postseason.
