The Toronto Blue Jays placed Vladimir Guerrero Jr., a six-time All-Star, on the seven-day injured list on Saturday due to concussion symptoms. In a corresponding move, outfielder Daz Cameron was called up from Triple-A Buffalo. To clear space on the 40-man roster, Lazaro Estrada, a right-hander, was designated for assignment.
Additionally, the Blue Jays recalled left-hander Ricky Tiedemann from Buffalo and sent right-hander Chase Lee down to Triple-A. Guerrero exited Friday’s game against the Yankees after a collision with New York rookie shortstop George Lombard Jr. at third base in the sixth inning. Lombard attempted to leap over Guerrero, but his knee and thigh made contact with Guerrero’s head, causing his helmet to come off.
Despite the collision, Guerrero managed to score a run before being replaced by Charles McAdoo at first base in the seventh inning. Manager John Schneider reported that Guerrero experienced a headache after the game and still had it the following day. Guerrero currently holds a batting average of .263 with seven home runs and 46 RBIs.
On the other hand, Tiedemann has a record of 0-1 with a 6.43 ERA across seven games, including two starts, at various minor league levels this season.
