At the Newfoundland and Labrador Summer Games in Corner Brook, a dedicated team of more than 300 volunteers in orange shirts is working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the smooth running of the event. As the second group of athletes arrived in the city on Wednesday, preparations were in full swing at the Corner Brook Civic Centre, where Duane Huxter has been diligently organizing merchandise for over a week.
Huxter shared that what he initially thought would be a quick task turned into days of work without going home. Volunteers play a crucial role in various aspects of the Games, from liaising with local authorities to coordinating logistics and ensuring the seamless operation of the sporting events.
Dave Campbell, the games director with SportNL and a member of the host committee, emphasized the importance of collaboration for the event’s success.
