The former kickboxing world champion is set to face actor-turned-boxer Chase DeMoor in Dubai on December 20 as the headline act of Misfits 23. Tate’s last appearance in the kickboxing arena was five years ago when he defeated Cosmin Lingurar.
Scheduled for his debut, Tate, aged 38, will confront the reigning heavyweight king under the Misfits banner. DeMoor clinched the heavyweight title last year with a points victory over KELZ on the AnEsonGib vs Slim Albaher undercard. Subsequently, he defended the title against Tank Tolman earlier this year and triumphed over Natan Marcon in August.
DeMoor’s most recent match ended in a draw with Efrain Carranza Gonzalez in September. As he prepares for his sixth fight this year, DeMoor faces a formidable challenge in Tate. The American boxer, in his interview with iFL TV, revealed the rigorous training he has undergone with prominent UFC figures, showcasing a black eye as proof of his intense preparation.
Tate confessed that his left eye suffered damage during sparring sessions with top-level athletes. Despite his success and financial stability, many in the boxing community were surprised by his decision to step into the boxing ring. Tate emphasized the importance of seizing opportunities and not living with regrets, highlighting his passion for fighting.
