Three security personnel employed at a downtown Winnipeg nightclub are facing charges of assault following an incident that left a Winnipeg Sea Bears player with serious injuries earlier this month, according to authorities. Teddy Allen was hospitalized after an assault occurred in the early hours of August 3 at the downtown establishment, as confirmed by the Canadian Elite Basketball League team. The three individuals, aged 35, 37, and 58, who were employed as security staff at the nightclub, were apprehended on Wednesday and have been charged with assault causing bodily harm, as announced by the police in a news release on Thursday. They have all been released on undertakings.
Although the nightclub was not explicitly named, authorities specified that it was located on Main Street, situated between Portage and William avenues. Allen, in a statement issued by the team on Thursday, mentioned that he has undergone medical examinations, received a diagnosis, and is currently recovering at home.
Expressing his dismay over the assault, Allen stated that such incidents should never occur to anyone for any reason.
