“Rumor: Resident Evil: Code Veronica Remake Coming in 2026”

-

A new version of the classic Resident Evil video game is rumored to be announced almost 30 years after its original release. Following the recent debut of Resident Evil Requiem in late February, Capcom’s next project is speculated to be a re-release of Resident Evil: Code Veronica.

According to industry insider Dusk Golem, the announcement for the remake is anticipated sometime in 2026. They confirmed that there won’t be a Resident Evil 5 remake this year but hinted at the unveiling of a remake that involves “C” and ends with “ode Veronica.”

Originally launched on the Dreamcast in 2000 and later made available on PlayStation 2 and GameCube, Code Veronica follows siblings Claire and Chris Redfield navigating a viral outbreak on a secluded prison island. The game received acclaim for its enhanced graphics, engaging plotline, and immersive 3D environments, attaining an impressive Metacritic score of 94.

Speculations indicate that the remake has been in progress since 2022 and might introduce a semi-open world concept, with Claire traversing Rockfort Island on a motorcycle. Fans on social media have expressed excitement and anticipation for the remake, eagerly awaiting its release.

While some fans are thrilled about the prospect of a Code Veronica remake, others have voiced concerns over Capcom potentially prioritizing it over a remake of Resident Evil 5. If the leaks are accurate, the new Code Veronica is expected to follow the launch of Resident Evil Requiem on various platforms on February 27, 2026.
