Cabinet members Wes Streeting and Lisa Nandy delivered a spirited performance of Oasis’ hit song “Don’t Look Back in Anger” at the renowned Mirror party during the Labour Party Conference. Health Secretary Mr. Streeting and Culture Secretary Ms. Nandy, along with former shadow minister Jonathan Ashworth, showcased their karaoke skills on stage.
The evening began with Justice Minister Alex Davies-Jones moving the audience with a heartfelt rendition of “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” supported by Hillsborough campaigners. Margaret Aspinall, a mother who lost her son in the 1989 tragedy, passionately advocated for swift passage of a new law to prevent cover-ups.
The annual party, hosted in collaboration with InHouse Communications and featuring drinks from Diageo, is a post-conference tradition following the Prime Minister’s speech. Mr. Streeting’s energetic performance of “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me” was a highlight, joined by Labour MP Oliver Ryan, as attendees, including journalists and political figures, took the stage to unwind.
Various MPs showcased their musical talents, with Mark Ferguson singing Pulp’s “Common People,” Housing Secretary Steve Reed performing “Sweet Caroline,” and MPs Jen Craft and Christian Wakeford presenting Wheatus’ “Teenage Dirtbag.” The festive atmosphere continued late into the night, with the iconic Mirror Chicken entertaining guests with dance moves.
The lively event followed Keir Starmer’s absence from the festivities, where he had earlier vowed to challenge Nigel Farage.
