“Save Energy, Cut Costs: Tips from TV Organizer”

-

As the weather cools down, indulging in comforting meals becomes a silver lining. However, frequent use of the oven for dishes like roasts and pies can lead to rising energy expenses. Offering insights on maintaining warmth in your living spaces during winter without breaking the bank, professional organizer and TV personality Dilly Carter shares some innovative strategies and tips.

In particular, focusing on the kitchen, Dilly recommends practical methods to economize while cooking. “Air fryers and microwaves are generally more energy-efficient than traditional gas stoves or ovens,” she advises. “If you don’t have these appliances, consider batch cooking on the stove to conserve energy. Reheating a single portion of frozen bolognese consumes less energy than preparing it from scratch every time. Also, when using the oven, multitask by cooking multiple items simultaneously, like baking muffins alongside a Sunday roast for your kids’ lunchboxes.”

Dilly also provides energy-saving suggestions for tea lovers. “Boil only the necessary amount of water for the number of cups you’re preparing,” she suggests. “While I don’t advocate forgoing a cup of tea, avoid wasting money on boiling excess water. Regular descaling of your kettle can enhance its efficiency and improve the taste of your tea.”

Shifting focus to larger appliances, Dilly advises, “Wait until your washing machine and dishwasher are full before running them. Washing clothes at 30 degrees is suitable for most items and gentler on your garments.”

“There are numerous simple ways to enhance your home’s warmth this winter,” Dilly emphasizes. “Many of these solutions require minimal or no cost. Allocate some time to inspect your residence for areas where cold air seeps in and ensure your radiators are functioning optimally. Develop a plan accordingly.”

Providing a crucial tip on energy efficiency, Dilly advocates for smart meters. “A smart meter is a straightforward starting point,” she asserts. “By monitoring your energy consumption patterns, you can identify areas where you can reduce usage. Energy suppliers install smart meters at no additional charge.”

Dilly concludes, “You don’t need to invest heavily in energy-efficient gadgets. By attending to the fundamentals, you can significantly impact your energy consumption positively.”
