“Charges Laid in Cattle Branding Fraud Case”

RCMP authorities have pressed charges against a 52-year-old individual following an inquiry into allegations of fraudulent branding of cattle. Branding serves as a means to establish ownership of livestock. Livestock Services of Saskatchewan received a report on July 6 regarding altered cattle brands at a farm located in the rural municipality of Martin, approximately 225 kilometers east of Regina, according to a press release by the RCMP on Wednesday. Owen Third, the livestock investigator for Saskatchewan RCMP, collaborated with officials from the Moosomin RCMP and Livestock Services of Saskatchewan to examine 197 head of cattle at the farm. Authorities disclosed that 99 of the cattle had an altered brand overlaid on the original one, while the rest were fraudulently branded with a new mark. The accused individual faces charges including altering a cattle brand and committing fraud exceeding $5,000. The suspect is set to appear in court for the first time next month.
