In contrast, other countries such as the Netherlands have been more receptive to the idea. Many Brits have chosen to move to the Netherlands in recent years, attracted by the lifestyle in this European nation.
One such expatriate is Hannah (name changed), a project manager at a fashion company and a mother of two young children. Having lived in the Netherlands for 15 years, she has no intentions of returning to the UK.
In an interview with i, Hannah expressed her satisfaction with the work culture in the Netherlands, highlighting the emphasis on trust and freedom in the workplace. She contrasted this with the UK’s work environment, noting the pressure to optimize every minute.
Ravi, another British expat living in Amsterdam for almost a decade, echoed Hannah’s sentiments. He emphasized the work-life balance in the Netherlands, where family time is prioritized over career advancement.
Numerous Brits, including Jennie Mono from Scotland, have also chosen to relocate to the Netherlands for various reasons. Jennie, who moved for a job promotion in 2007, has no plans to leave Amsterdam anytime soon, citing her love for the city and the lifestyle it offers.
While she contemplates retiring in the UK eventually, Jennie intends to enjoy her time in the Netherlands for the foreseeable future.
