“Green Party Leader Pushes for Drug Legalization & Public Health Approach”

-

The leader of the Green Party, Zack Polanski, has advocated for the legalization of all drugs, including Class A narcotics, emphasizing the need for a “public health approach” to address the issue and combat drug-related criminal activities. Polanski criticized the ineffective war on drugs and urged for a new strategy.

Speaking before his first leader’s speech at the party’s national conference, Polanski highlighted the failure of past Prime Ministers to address the root causes of illegal drug markets and associated gang activities. He emphasized the importance of shifting focus towards public health rather than strict prohibition.

Taking a swipe at Keir Starmer’s government, Polanski criticized the opposition for their handling of climate issues and other policy matters, declaring a need for a change in direction. He outlined the Green Party’s stance on eco-populism and expressed confidence in bringing about positive change through a politics of hope.

Polanski also addressed the small boats crisis, proposing the expansion of safe and legal routes as a solution, and called for a radical wealth tax to generate funds for public services. He warned against the potential consequences of maintaining the status quo and urged for a shift towards more progressive policies.
