“BT TV Users Face Netflix Block on Select Devices”

-

A significant change is imminent for UK households using BT TV as some homes will soon lose access to streaming Netflix content. The alert has been issued due to certain BT TV set-top boxes no longer supporting the popular Netflix app. This upgrade by Netflix will render older hardware incompatible with the enhanced service.

The affected devices include the TV Recordable Box (G4) and the TV Box (Z4). BT explained that Netflix is updating its app to provide a superior user experience, resulting in incompatibility with these specific boxes.

Commencing on March 4, 2026, customers utilizing these boxes will no longer be able to stream Netflix titles like Drive to Survive, Stranger Things, Seven Dials, and Breaking Bad unless they switch to more modern equipment. BT confirmed that newer models will not face the Netflix block.

The company assured that subscriptions to Netflix will remain unaffected, and customers can still enjoy the service on supported devices. Individuals using the impacted boxes are encouraged to contact BT for guidance on upgrading to newer models.

While Netflix will no longer be accessible through the mentioned BT TV boxes, alternative devices such as smart TVs, Fire TV Sticks, gaming consoles, and Apple TV boxes will continue to support the streaming service.
