“BT Unveils Smart Hub 3 Router with Enhanced Security Features”

-

BT has introduced a new method for internet access that not only connects devices to the web but also enhances security features. The latest Smart Hub 3 Wi-Fi router from the company is set to be available in UK households soon, offering improved connectivity and added security measures.

The router comes equipped with technology that can automatically detect risky websites, alerting users before potential malware or online threats can cause any harm. Additionally, it has the capability to identify hacker attempts to access smart home devices like internet-connected cameras and prevent any suspicious activities before they escalate.

Users will have the ability to monitor detected threats through the Hub Threat Protect feature in the MyBT app, empowering households to enhance their online security and proactively address cyber threats.

In addition to security enhancements, the Smart Hub 3 prioritizes performance. It supports Complete Wi-Fi Plus, which extends signal coverage across the home, minimizing dead zones in areas with weaker connectivity.

Notably, the router is compatible with Wi-Fi 6 technology, a step below the newer Wi-Fi 7 standard present in some competing devices. While Wi-Fi 7 offers faster speeds, lower latency, and enhanced reliability, Wi-Fi 6 remains a highly capable option for most households as many current devices do not support Wi-Fi 7 yet. It still represents a significant upgrade from older Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 4 equipment.

For those interested in acquiring this new router, BT’s Smart Hub 3 will be accessible to new customers, with potential upgrade options available to certain existing users.

The distinction between Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7 lies in their wireless performance improvements. Wi-Fi 6 enhances speed, efficiency, and capacity compared to its predecessors, while Wi-Fi 7 takes it further with wider 320 MHz channels, reduced latency, and higher speeds, catering especially to gaming, 8K streaming, and advanced smart home setups.

For most users at present, Wi-Fi 6 remains a solid choice, while Wi-Fi 7 presents a more forward-looking solution.
