CBC has secured an expanded role in Canadian curling through a newly inked five-year broadcast deal, which will enhance coverage of the Grand Slam of Curling playoffs and all Rock League matches on its platforms. The agreement with The Curling Group will result in over 300 hours of combined television content on CBC and Sportsnet during the 2026-27 season.
An exciting development for CBC is the inclusion of Rock League matches. The professional league, debuting in April, will make a comeback on CBC in January 2027. Viewers can catch every game on CBC television and CBC Gem, while selected matches will also be available on Radio-Canada’s ICI TOU.TV and Sportsnet on Thursdays and Fridays. Rock League comprises six teams with mixed-gender lineups from various countries, and its upcoming second season will feature events on specific weekends in January and April, with games scheduled from Thursday to Sunday.
Additionally, CBC will play a larger role in covering the Grand Slam of Curling. Sportsnet remains the primary broadcaster for the five Grand Slam events starting in October, with three draws aired daily from Tuesday to Friday. On Saturdays, CBC and CBC Gem will join Sportsnet+ for playoff coverage, while Sportsnet will broadcast the championship finals on Sundays, with CBC also airing selected finals throughout the season. Morning round-robin draws and tiebreakers from Tuesday to Saturday will continue to be streamed on Rock Channel.
This new agreement further solidifies CBC’s extensive history with curling and expands its presence during major Canadian curling events. Chris Wilson, CBC’s executive director of sports and Olympics, expressed enthusiasm: “CBC has a rich tradition of curling coverage. We are thrilled to bring another season of Rock League to audiences nationwide.” The Curling Group’s CEO and co-founder, Nic Sulsky, hailed the agreements as a pivotal moment for the sport, providing both the Grand Slam and Rock League with increased exposure to a broader national audience.
Over the next five years, Canadian fans can look forward to more ways to engage with the sport, from Grand Slam playoff weekends to the second season of Rock League, all available on CBC platforms.
