An expert proficient in reading lips has provided insight into the intense conversation between former President Donald Trump and former First Lady Melania Trump that garnered widespread attention. The footage capturing the couple engaged in a serious discussion while on Marine One, filmed on the South Lawn during the evening of Wednesday, has gone viral.
This video rapidly circulated on various social media platforms, prompting comparisons to a similar incident involving Emmanuel Macron and Brigitte back in May.
In the midst of the heated exchange, Trump can be seen making gestures towards Melania, who responds with a disapproving shake of her head. Lip-reading expert Jeremy Freeman has shared his interpretation of the conversation.
According to Jeremy, Trump was likely discussing the “escalator-gate” incident at the United Nations General Assembly instead of expressing frustration towards Melania’s actions.
In an interview with the Daily Mail, Jeremy indicated that Melania possibly mentioned, “You just continued…” to which Trump responded, “It was unbelievable.”
Melania then replied, “Just say it and leave it..” Trump, seemingly surprised by her response, retorted, “How can you do that…” Shortly after, the influential couple exited the helicopter and walked across the lawn hand in hand.
Body language expert Judi James supported the idea that the conversation might not have been as contentious as it appeared.
Speaking to the Mirror, Judi mentioned, “The body language displayed in this clip exhibits contradictory signals, but it is worth noting that Melania is actually smiling as she shakes her head, indicating that Trump could be narrating an event from the day using illustrative gestures, including a pointed finger for emphasis, which might have lightened the mood.”
The escalator incident, where Trump encountered a malfunctioning escalator at the UN General Assembly in Manhattan, led him to express on Truth Social that it was fortunate that neither he nor Melania stumbled forward on the sharp edges of the steps since they were gripping the handrail securely, preventing a potential mishap.
