One of Joe Marler’s former teammates from the England rugby team accused him of being betrayed during the final episode of the reality show “Celebrity Traitors.” Despite making it to the last episode of the show, Marler was ousted by his fellow contestants.
The 35-year-old, who retired from international rugby in November last year, was selected as one of the 19 celebrities to participate in the inaugural season of the BBC program. Marler was part of the Faithful group, tasked with identifying and exposing a trio of Traitors.
Known for his outspoken nature on the show, Marler reached the final four alongside actor Nick Mohammed, with whom he had formed a close bond and made a pact. However, Mohammed had a change of heart at the last moment and voted to eliminate Marler, allowing chat show host Alan Carr to claim the entire £87,500 charity prize as the remaining Traitor.
Marler’s former England teammates were surprised by the show’s outcome when watching it together. Second-row Alex Coles shared insights before their match against Fiji, praising Marler’s personality and humor, and expressing disappointment at his elimination.
Despite the turn of events, Marler harbors no ill feelings towards Mohammed after the intense final vote. The pair embraced upon reuniting, and Marler later expressed his affection for Mohammed despite the unexpected betrayal.
In addition to his bond with Mohammed, Marler also formed a friendship with comedian Joe Wilkinson on the show, lauding Wilkinson’s humor and intelligence.
