“Hurricane Gabrielle Upgraded to Category 3, Set to Impact Atlantic and UK”

-

Hurricane Gabrielle has been upgraded to a dangerous category three and is predicted to cause disturbance across the Atlantic. With wind speeds reaching approximately 120mph over the warm waters, the storm is currently moving away from land but has already sent swells towards Bermuda and impacted the East Coast of the United States from North Carolina to Canada.

In the UK, the aftermath of Hurricane Gabrielle is forecasted to influence the weather starting from Friday, as indicated by the Met Office. According to meteorological experts, the upcoming days are expected to maintain the settled weather pattern experienced in the previous days, with dry conditions, light winds, and sunny intervals during the daytime, possibly with mist or isolated fog patches overnight.

However, uncertainties arise as thicker cloud cover and rain showers may advance from the Atlantic, with the potential influence of ex-Hurricane Gabrielle adding to the unpredictability. While there is low confidence in transitioning to unsettled weather, there is a likelihood of rain and strong winds affecting western parts of the UK, with subsequent weeks showing a split in weather patterns from west to east and above-average temperatures.

The Met Office has announced improved weather conditions for this afternoon, with the exception of possible downpours in Kent. Expect mostly dry weather with sunshine, although some northern and eastern regions may experience cloudier skies and coastal showers. Tonight, clear skies will lead to cooler temperatures and a chance of frost, especially in grassy areas. Tomorrow will start cold but turn into a fine day with sunny spells, albeit with lingering cloud cover in the north and east, potentially bringing heavy showers to Kent.
