A woman described her distress after experiencing difficulty speaking and a sensation like “chewing glass” following an incident at a restaurant. Emergency services responded to Dosa Kingss in Sale, Greater Manchester, where 11 individuals fell ill, with two requiring hospitalization. The cause of the reactions is under investigation by Greater Manchester Police.

According to witness accounts, patrons fell ill after consuming food at the establishment. Amrita Kapadia, dining with her family during a special event, quickly developed severe symptoms, including a burning sensation in her throat and mouth, leading to her inability to communicate. The incident occurred during the Onam festival, with multiple diners affected after consuming a mixed vegetable dish called Aviyal.

Amrita’s son did not experience similar symptoms, prompting her to seek immediate medical attention. She described the escalating reactions within the restaurant, leading to paramedic intervention and her subsequent hospitalization. Following treatment, she spent four hours in the hospital before returning home. Enquiries are ongoing, and authorities have cordoned off the area for investigation.

Despite the incident, the restaurant issued a statement apologizing for the inconvenience and announced a temporary closure. Dosa Kingss did not provide further comments regarding the incident. The community and authorities continue to monitor the situation, awaiting further updates on the investigation.
